National Food Hygiene Rating
Food Standards Agency launched national food hygiene rating scheme
In November 2010 The Food Standards Agency launched a national food hygiene rating scheme, the scheme is run by local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in partnership with the Food Standards Agency and will allow people to choose the safest places to eat out or do the food shopping. Their objective is to drive food standards higher using the scores system.
Safer food, better business (SFBB) is an innovative and practical approach to food safety management and has been developed to help small businesses put in place food safety management procedures and comply with food hygiene regulations. Packs and guidance are also available for child minders with a supplement for care homes that is designed to be used with the caterer’s pack.
In addition, there are packs for small catering businesses, small retail businesses and restaurants and takeaways that serve different cuisines, such as; Chinese, Gaelic, Greek, Bangladeshi, Indian, Thai, Turkish and Sri Lankan cuisines.
